TITLE: ALCOHOL AND OTHER DRUG ABUSE PREVENTION SPECIALIST (0061) JP
SALARY: $28,434 - $44,520 (Grade 10)

DESCRIPTION: An Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Prevention Specialist is the full performance level of work in a multi-person program assessing, designing, coordinating and implementing alcohol and drug abuse prevention programs within a local health department. Employees receive general supervision from an Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Prevention Supervisor.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: Completion of sixty (60) credit hours from an accredited college or university, 18 of which are in the behavioral sciences, health services, human services or education.
EXPERIENCE: None
NOTE: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate and two years of experience in a community or school based alcohol or other drug abuse prevention program may be substituted for the education requirement.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Within the first 12 months of employment applicants must complete a minimum of 60 hours of specialized training in alcohol and other drug abuse prevention services. This training must be approved by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH), Office of Education and Training for Addition Services (OETAS), 201 W. Preston Street, 4th Floor, Baltimore, Maryland 21201.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATES:
Persons appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.
