Dialysis Services Technician Trainee

TITLE:    DIALYSIS SERVICES TECHNICIAN TRAINEE (4237)

LIMITATION: LIMITED TO APPLICANTS AVAILABLE TO WORK IN AREA 70 (SALISBURY, MD) OR AREA 10  (HAGERSTOWN, MD)

SALARY:   $23,796 - $36,928  (Grade 7)  (Effective July 1, 2008)

CLOSING DATE:  OPEN & CONTINUOUS

DESCRIPTION: A Dialysis Services Technician Trainee is the entry level of work in the preparation, operation and maintenance of the specialized equipment used in kidney dialysis.  Employees in this class do not have supervisory responsibility. Employees receive close supervision from a Dialysis Services Chief or a health care professional.  Employees are required to observe infection control precautions in order to prevent contamination and the spread of disease.  The work may require the lifting of patients and heavy equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalence certificate.
 
EXPERIENCE: One year of experience in a medical care support field as a laboratory technician, medical machine technician, operating room technician or closely related technical occupation.

NOTES:  1. Applicants may substitute completion of sixty semester credit hours to have included at least nine semester credit hours in biology, chemistry or physics for the required experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS & CERTITIFICATIONS:

1. Candidates for positions in the class must possess a current certificate as a CNA-Dialysis Technician from the MD State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Ave, Balto. MD 21215 Or successfully complete a Board approved training program as a CNA- Dialysis Tech training program and receive certification as a CNA- Dialysis Tech from the Board within 90 days of hire prior to performing delegated nursing tasks. An appointee failing to complete this requirement will not be retained in the position.
 
2. Persons appointed to positions in this class may be required to successfully complete and   maintain current certification of cardio-pulmonary resuscitation training.
