The State of Maryland recognizes that the most recent round of budget cuts have hit State employees and their families particularly hard. In an effort to assist employees who have been separated from State service during this fiscal year due to a PIN abolition and their families, we have implemented the following measures:
- Employees separated due to PIN abolition will be exempt from the requirement to take furlough hours under Executive Order 01.01.2009.11;
- DBM will provide an automatic hiring freeze exception to an agency for a position which a displaced employee has been selected to fill; and
- Impacted employees will be given priority consideration for vacant State positions for which they apply.
