Essential Functions: 

This position supervises the Judicial College Educational Facilities Administrative Office Specialist and the Judicial College Events Coordinator. This position provides leadership, supervision and coordination of the Maryland Judicial Center educational training and conference rooms. Responsibilities includes managing reservations, event set-up and tear-down, operation of ten training rooms, four computer labs, and six conference rooms; ensuring that educational facilities practice and procedures are adhered to within the department and drafting new P&Ps and forms as needed. Creates and maintains accurate forms, develops and maintains tracking and accountability spreadsheets. Additionally, this position provides the logistical, audiovisual, and administrative support for educational and meeting events. Additionally, this position is responsible for ensuring event support including maintaining beverages and supplies at all coffee stations and cleanliness thereof; catering coordination; coordinating and processing room reservation requests in collaboration with the Facilities Administrative Office Specialist and approves GEARS invoices. This position also serves as the on-site contact for catering and is the first point of contact for MJC visitors. This position requires leadership, being proactive, taking an active role in troubleshooting, solution-finding and responding to all areas of responsibility in a timely, efficient manner.

This position can only be executed efficiently and accurately by being meticulous, possessing excellent written and verbal communication skills, high-level of attention to detail, tact, good judgment, creativity and quick thinking, and the ability to handle stressful situations with grace and professionalism.

Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Three (3) years of work experience to include facilities management, event planning, or audiovisual equipment experience.

Note: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.

  Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and experience of technological audiovisual systems, ability to provide support to presenters, and ability to troubleshoot and resolve common problems
  • Knowledge of and experience with maintenance and minor repair of building operations systems.
  • Knowledge and experience with laptop/computer connection.
  • Knowledge of facilities management, event planning and execution principles and best practices, including design, organization, and production of complex events
  • Organizational skills.
  • Verbal and written communications and interpersonal skills and ability to handle multiple demands in a patient, efficient manner.
  • Oral communication skills, including the ability to express information clearly and accurately on the phone, one-on-one, and to groups of all sizes
  • Written communication skills, including the ability to draft and edit correspondence and reports
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to lift and or carry up to 50 pounds.
