Recruitment For: CAPITAL PROJECTS ENGINEER/CIVIL Contractual /Full time/Part time
Salary: $65,753 - $72,369 (Hourly Rate: $31.53 - $34.70) (Salary Negotiable)
Closing Date: Open Until Filled Position Duties: This position functions as a Registered Professional Engineer with expertise in Civil and Structural Engineering and performs work relating to the design and construction of State correctional facilities. This position is with the Division of Capital Construction and Facilities Maintenance of the Maryland Department of Pubic Safety and Correctional Services.
Minimum Qualifications: Experience - One year of experience as a registered Professional Engineer responsible for the design and/or review of technical efficacy of civil and structural engineering systems for building construction. Proof of professional registration should be submitted when applying. Experience in the construction of correctional facilities is desirable. Five years of engineering experience, responsible for the design, and review for technical efficacy, of civil and structural engineering systems of building construction.
Within six months of the date of appointment, persons appointed to this position who are registered as Professional Engineers in another state, must become registered by the State of Maryland.
Special Requirements: The following are essential functions of this position (not all-inclusive) · Consults with architects and engineers on structural and civil engineering layouts and designs of correctional facilities. · Reviews specifications and design plans submitted by consultants for determining compliance with sound engineering practices, established standards, codes and regulations. · Attends review meetings with architects and engineering consultants. · Plans, designs and writes specifications, prepares cost estimates and produces drawing/sketches for in-house construction projects. · After site visits as required, prepares and presents detailed reports and effective recommendations on structural and civil engineering problems encountered. · Advises other staff in investigations, evaluations and preparations of projects programs and cost estimates. · Evaluates cost estimates submitted by consultants pertaining to civil/structural engineering.
