Computer Operations Manager II
SALARY:  $52,950 - $85,017

NOTE: DBM Salary rules apply. Salary reductions apply per Executive Order 01.01.2009.11.   FY 2010, State Employees Furlough and Temporary Salary Reductions Salary Schedule range through June 30, 2010 is $51,627- $82,892

LOCATION:         Annapolis, Maryland
 
POSITION DUTIES:

The Comptroller of Maryland is seeking a motivated and talented individual to serve as Computer Operations Manager II for the Annapolis Data Center. The manager directs, plans and coordinates the computer operations activities of the Annapolis Data Center.  This position supervises Computer Operator Manager I positions, as well as other computer operations support staff.  This position also manages/coordinates equipment maintenance, building security, building maintenance, and the data center courier service.   This position is also responsible for inventorying and ordering data center consumables such as paper, forms, and toner.  This is a Management Service position, which serves at the pleasure of the Comptroller of Maryland.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: You must submit a copy of your educational documentation at the time of filing your application.

A Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Computer Information Technology or other information technology-related field.
 
Experience:

1. A minimum of three years experience supervising or managing employees in an IT environment.

2. A minimum of five years experience working in mainframe data center operations as an operator, operator supervisor, or operator manager.

Notes:

1. Thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Computer Information Technology or other information technology-related field to include course work in computer programming, computer languages, operating systems, data communication technology, or related coursed may be substituted for the required education.

LIMITATIONS:

1. Must be able to work at the Annapolis office.

2. Must be willing to be on-call to provide management support, as needed, for the 24/7 operations of the Annapolis Data Center.

3. Must be willing and able to provide disaster recovery support, which may involve travel to an alternate site.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Experience in procurement and preparing procurement documents such as RFPs, IFBs, etc.

2. Experience in budget preparation.

3. Experience supporting a distributed systems environment.

This is a Management Service position which serves at the pleasure of the Comptroller of Maryland.

Annual Leave:
