 SPS Roles

SPS provides benefits to the State of Maryland, but you need to know how to use the system. Without understanding what is expected or learning how to perform necessary tasks, HR functions (such as making sure that job roles are filled and employees get paid) won’t get done.

Find your Role

Some employees may have additional roles in the Workday system, particularly in Human Resources. Your security role dictates what data you have access to, as well as what kind of SPS tasks you will be expected to perform for your agency. If you are not sure what your security role is, you can find out below.

Note that you may have more than one security role designation. If your name does not appear after searching, it means that you do not have a security role designation in Workday. If you feel this is incorrect, please contact your HR O​ffice.
