Roles in SPS Benefits are central to how the system functions. Roles determine what you can see and what you can do. They provide individuals access to appropriate data within the assigned organizational structure, and they determine functional responsibilities and how information is routed in pre-determined business process. There are Inherited roles, or default roles such as Employee and Manager, as well as Assigned roles such as “Agency Benefits Coordinator”, “Central Benefits Coordinator”, “Central Benefits Partner”, etc. Below is a matrix of roles involved in the benefits process:

- 1st level support to assist employees w/enrollment issues and questions
- Submit supporting documentation
- View employee benefit elections for employees, dependents, etc.
- Run benefit reports
Agency Benefits Liaison (Read-Only)
- View employee benefit elections for employees, dependents, etc.
- Run benefit reports
Employee Benefits Division (EBD) Staff Roles
Benefits Administrator
- Access to process administrative corrections, and open/close/finalize Open Enrollment
Central Benefits Partner
- Approves benefit events and makes administrative corrections
Central Benefits Coordinator
Central Benefits Coordinator Medicare
- Ability to process Medicare events
Central Benefits Customer Service
- View capability to answer Customer Service calls
Central Benefits Analyst
- Access for reporting for accounting purposes
