POSITION LOCATION: Annapolis, Maryland
NATURE OF WORK: This position is responsible for work designing, developing, implementing, maintaining and controlling database management systems for multipurpose, multi-tasking computers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This is a technical position responsible for defining data bases, developing data definitions, maintaining the data dictionary, developing logical and physical data base designs, establishing initializing procedures and data element naming conventions, coordinating the installation and implementation of data base management systems software and related software tools, maintaining security and integrity of data, developing standards for application programs, performing backup routines, monitoring data base performance, making modifications and adjustments to data base architecture, troubleshooting problems and performing related duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Each candidate must:
Possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other information technology-related field to include coursework in database management systems.
AND
Have one year of experience designing, developing, implementing, maintaining and controlling data base management systems for multipurpose, multi-tasking computers.
NOTES:
1. Thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or other information technology-related field to include course work in data base management systems may be substituted for the required education.
2. One year of experience designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining applications systems and programs using third generation or other generally accepted computer programming language or maintaining and modifying operating systems for multipurpose, multi-tasking computers may be substituted for the required education. 3. Experience operating multipurpose, multi-tasking computer systems;or scheduling, controlling input and output or maintaining a tape library to process data on multipurpose, multi-tasking computer systems; or converting data from project specifications by developing program code using third generation or other generally accepted computer programming languages my be substituted for high school on a year-for-year basis. 4. This is a full time contractual position with an hourly wage but no fringe benefits. SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years experience in managing Microsoft SQL server and knowledge of Transact-SQL, dBASE IV, Visual Basic and data migration.
