DESCRIPTION: The main purpose of this position is to manage the Office of the Inspector General unit that is responsible for the investigation, monitoring, and verification of billing compliance by contractors, grantees, and providers receiving DHMH funds. Reporting to the Assistant Inspector General, this position maintains knowledge of Medicaid claims submission, claims payment, and Medicaid policy; coordinates recoveries of funds improperly paid to providers; and represents the Department at the Office of Administrative Hearings. It is responsible for coordinating investigations with the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit of the Office of the Attorney General, various State’s Attorneys Offices, and any other law enforcement agency. This position also reviews legislation and regulations related to program integrity in provider programs for effectiveness in prevention of fraud, waste, and abuse. This position supervises three Administrative Officers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
EXPERIENCE: Four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.
NOTES: 1. Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year to year basis for the required general experience.
LICENSE: Candidates appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
