DESCRIPTION: A MSP Civilian Helicopter Pilot I is the intermediate level of civilian helicopter aircraft pilot work in the Aviation Division. Employees in this classification are assigned shift work including holidays and weekends and are subject to 24-hour on-call duty during emergencies and staff shortages.
Employees are required to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions. The work involves hazardous conditions such as maneuvering helicopters in congested or unusual terrain.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
EXPERIENCE: Completion of 2000 helicopter flight hours.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS:

Employees in this classification must possess and maintain a FAA Commercial Helicopter license.
- Employees in this classification must possess and maintain FAA 2nd Class Physical certification.
- Employees in this classification must possess and maintain an acceptable Instrument Helicopter Rating as determined by FAA regulations and required by the MSP Aviation Division.
SELECTION PROCESS: Only candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will be considered for this classification. Therefore, it is essential that you give complete and accurate information on your application. Successful candidates will be placed on the employment list categorized as BEST QUALIFIED, BETTER QUALIFIED OR QUALIFIED and remain eligible for consideration for at least one year from the date of examination. This list will be used by the hiring agency to select employees.
EXAMINATION: The examination will consist of rating of your education, training and experience related to the requirements of this job. Applicants subject to background investigation, polygraph and substance abuse testing.
Candidates appointed to this classification will be required to sign a MSP Aviation Pilot Candidate Obligated Service Agreement.
