​Essential Functions: 

The Sr. Network Security Engineer will actively participate in planning and coordinating the design, installation, and connectivity of computer, network and threat management systems to ensure stable, scalable, redundant and secure 24x7 network operations. Lead, schedule, and oversee the activities with other team members to resolve complex problems and requests in a timely and accurate fashion. Primary job duties and responsibilities include major implementations through configuration, installation, testing, deployment, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and documentation of network and threat management utilizing industry best practices for security, disaster recovery and business continuity, change control, and client support. Active participation in the creation of robust network designs. Act as the primary point of contact, and senior-level network and security engineer, for implementations providing an ongoing highest tier of support and maintenance.

Education: Associate Degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Five (5) years of professional IT work experience in the fields of networking, field networking, or security engineering and support.

Note: Additional related work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to two (2) years of the required education.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of assessing and translating network business requirements into technical specifications resulting in successful installations.
  • Knowledge and advanced level of expertise in switching, routing, wireless, and software defined networking
  • Knowledge of vulnerability management.
  • Knowledge of Centralized Management applications.
  • Knowledge of networking and security with cloud providers and cloud-based services.
  • Knowledge of Certificate Management.
  • Knowledge of Content Filtering, Reverse Proxies, and Load Balancing.
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, large enterprise networks.
  • Knowledge of Network Access Control - Identity Management, Device Administration, Guest Portals, Access Control Lists
  • Knowledge of programming for automation in networking and security.
  • Skill in Next Generation Firewalls and Unified Threat Management.
  • Skill in current Wide Area Network technologies.
  • Skill in Intrusion Detection and Prevention platforms, scripting, regular expressions.
  • Skill in Virtual Private Networking - Remote Access and inter-site connectivity.
  • Skill in advance authentication standards in wired and wireless implementations.
  • Skill in Packet/Protocol Analysis.
  • Skill in planning, organizing, developing, and an understanding of project management principles.
  • Skill in documentation, to include, but not limited to the ability to produce technical documents (e.g. Visio diagrams, design documents, project plans, schedules, and help desk and user instructions).
  • Ability to evaluate, implement, maintain, and support extensive network security solutions using the latest security products and best practices.
  • Ability to work closely with other internal groups in supporting users.
  • Ability to provide responsive customer service through effective communication and coordination.
  • Ability to maintain a positive and cooperative attitude in sometimes stressful situations.
  • Ability to work under pressure to resolve issues affecting production services.
  • Ability to work in a 24/7 environment with on-call responsibilities and the necessity to work extended hours when required to provide operational support.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays to provide project support.
  • Ability to travel to other locations, as needed.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of this position.
